After the overwhelming success of the pretaped Sunday Night Sex Show on Oxygen TV, there was an impetus for Sue to produce a live American broadcast so that viewers in the U.S. could call in. Hence, Talk Sex with Sue Johanson premiered on November 3, 2002. Skydome, Toronto

Just like the SNSS, Talk Sex is broadcast live from Skydome - now renamed the Rogers Centre - in downtown Toronto. (We needed a big space for all those dildos!) The SNSS aired live from 10 PM until 11 PM on W Network and only accepted calls from Canadian viewers. As soon as it was done, Talk Sex would air live on Oxygen TV for American viewers only from 11 PM until midnight. As of October 2005, Sue will only be doing Talk Sex.

As you can imagine, the logistics for both live productions airing back-to-back were remarkably complex to set up. It involved a switchable telephone system that could switch from one country to another just before midnight. It also involved coordinating two separate broadcasters in different cities - Toronto and Denver . Dome Productions facility was up to the challenge.

Since each program was a separate entity, many items were required in duplicate - two studio sets, two different themes, two sets of anatomical graphics for the monitors, two complete sets of sexual props for Sue to have on set. At the end of the first show, Sue would walk over to the set of the second show, which was located in the same studio. The crew repositioned cameras, fired up the lights, and away we went.
The pre-production for this complicated arrangement was coordinated by Executive Producer Julie Smith and Director/Co-producer Randy Gulliver. They have been part of the Sunday Night Sex Show "family" since it began ten years ago.

In fact, many members of the crew who help to create the show have been there since the beginning - makeup artist Sana Natur, audio operator Dwayne Rowe, prompter operator Ali Miraliakbari, assistant director Liisa Robbins, cameramen Derrick Banner and Germain Wilson. Germain also used to moonlight as a semi-professional wrestler known as "J. Q. Publik", so you may have seen him wrestling in your local arena!

Along with the other members of the 17-person Talk Sex crew, it's a tightly-knit unit that helps and supports Sue every episode. As she puts it, "I just love my second family and I couldn't do it without them."

To our surprise, Talk Sex is also a huge hit in Brazil! The program airs on GNT in Rio de Janeiro with Portuguese subtitles. Since 2006, it is also broadcast by ZoneVision to 20 European countries, plus Israel. Who knew sex was so popular?!
