Homophobia is common in many communities; in other areas, usually cities with a large gay population, homosexuality is accepted without question. This book, WHAT DID THEY SAY ABOUT GAYS? by ALLAN GOULD, published by ECW Press, goes back in history and looks at the origins of attitudes and values of ancient societies, and how those evolved and persisted in American culture over the years. It won't happen, but I would love this book to be on the Reading List of every college and university in the country. But if you claim to be open minded, you will read this book and challenge your own assumptions.
