Sue Calls It Quits
After 6 seaons of "Talk Sex", Sue Johanson has decided to hang up her dollies and take a break from series TV.
Since 1986, Sue has been providing sexual information to phone-callers - first, on a local cable channel in Toronto, then nationally on WTN, and then internationally on Oxygen in the U.S., ZoneVision in Europe, and GNT in Brazil. Previously taped programs will continue to air.
In the meantime, Sue intends to take the summer off, then continue her college lectures in the Fall. She would also love to return to radio, her favourite venue, and that area is being explored.
There are also several projects in the works for future release - a "Position of the Week" DVD; a series of "Best of Talk Sex" DVD's; and a behind-the-scenes documentary. We will keep you posted.
The web site will continue as per usual with sexual information and bulletin board postings.
The last episode of "Talk Sex" will air May 11. Sue expresses her deep appreciation to the crew and to viewers for their support. A great big THANKS!

Time-Slot Change to Midnight & More
Early in the month, it was off to New York for a return appearance on LATE NIGHT WITH CONAN O'BRIEN. Sue loves Conan, and they had their usual bout of risqué banter.
The next day, Sue was the sole guest on THE TYRA BANKS SHOW. Poor Tyra had the flu - and 3 shows to tape in one day - and was probably relieved to have an old trooper on set for the entire hour. Sue knows how to handle a young crowd, since she does it 50 nights a year in her college tours!
Then, it was back to Toronto for an interview with George Stroumboulopoulos on THE HOUR. George appeared on our show last season, and he and Sue have a wonderful rapport. His program is the major talk show in Canada, and Sue was honored to be a part of it.
Amidst all this activity, we had some news from Oxygen TV. On February 10, TALK SEX is changing its time-slot to midnight. We will continue to take calls from 11 PM, but the show will be live at 12.
Annual Holiday Bash - Bodacious Banquet!
In typical Toronto fashion, our crew is an ethnic smorgasbord of different cultures, and that always pays off big time in these year-end feasts. Sue Johanson brought Swedish meatballs (of course!); Ali offered incredible lamb and leek stew from Iraq; Priya made a vegetarian cauliflower and cheese pie that was out of this world; Julie brought two - count 'em! - pecan chocolate pies that are her specialty; plus there were culinary treats from Lebanon, Norway, Israel, Romania, and even Canada. When it comes to international flavours and spicy surprises, this is the one buffet you do not want to miss!
We commandeered the bar area at Dome Productions - as well as several bottles of wine - and had a spectacular feast. This was followed by our traditional 'Secret Santa' gift-fest. Luckily, it did not end in a fist-fight this year. Everyone loved their gifts, and the hot-ticket items were a gift-package of Balvenie whisky, a remote-controlled helicopter, down-filled slippers, and a set of 'Mullet Fridge Magnets'. (Don't ask!)
That is, until I checked the camera the next day. Below is an example of why you should never leave your digital camera alone in the Control Room with Liz and a semi-soused crew. At least they kept their clothes on this year!

Position of the Week - TV You Can Practise at Home!
Our new feature, POSITION OF THE WEEK, is getting rave reviews from viewers!
Each week, models demonstrate a different sexual position, everything from the "classics" to Olympic acrobatics. No matter what your physical shape or sexual preference, there is something here for everyone!
For the filming, 3 couples were utilitized - two "straight" couples , and one "gay male" couple. Segment Producer, Susan Ferrier McKay, fortuitously found a small theatre in Toronto that had just completed the run of a play presented on a stage painted entirely black. That setting provided the perfect background and space to set up a bed and props for the 3-day shoot.
Positions came from research materials, the crew, and even the models. The gay couple, who actually are a real couple, provided many suggestions for anal intercourse, a subject we receive many questions about.
After the shoot, Susan edited each item at Bullseye Productions in Toronto, and good old Patsy came in to provide the voice-overs. Interestingly, Susan's son, Andrew, wrote the excellent background music used on the segments.
By time the shoot was done, Susan had assembled over 50 positions, and these will be aired throughout the season. In addition, the entire collection will be available for sale at a future date. We will keep you posted!
Available in two inviting colors (Bubblegum and Tangerine), the 7 ˝” vibe offers seven hypersonic functions of vibration, pulsation and escalation.
“It’s wonderful to have the Royal Princess recognized as the vibe of the year,” said California Exotic Novelties’ Director of Marketing, Al Bloom. “With literally thousands of vibes in the marketplace, it really is an honor to be recognized as the best!”
Reached at her cottage on Lake Simcoe, all Sue could say was, "Hot damn!"
We rarely get feedback about toys we feature on the program, but here's a couple of emails we've had about the HEAD HONCHO:
"hello, I watch sue on tv a lot and once I saw the head honcho, I was intrigued. I bought one and it arrived today. I used it on my husband and he LOVED it. I had never been able to get him off in under a minute before this LOL!
"Aloha ! Received "Head Honcho".....OH,OH,OH, my GOD
!..........................PARADISE FOUND ! !"
You can order your own piece of paradise from Distinctive Toys or find it at most large adult stores.
It's a question we often hear from female callers who are baffled by their male partner's motives. Men themselves are wondering where they stand. The playing field has changed since the 60's as women have defined new roles for themselves in our culture. Traditional male role models are shifting as well. The strong, silent type has given way to the silent, sensitive type - silence being the consistent characteristic. And that's the problem - men won't talk.
On Sunday, May 6, we rectified the status quo and gave them a chance to have their say - we only took calls from male viewers. Sue was joined by two sexy guys who proved to be anything but silent!
George Stroumboulopoulos (pictured right) is the host of "The Hour", Canada's only late night talk show. Now in its third season, the program has won two Gemini Awards - Canada's equivalent to an Emmy Award - one for best talk series in Canada, the other for best host in a talk program or series. George had no shortage of opinions on what men really want. His main point: men want company. They want a partner who will be engaging - intellectually and sexually - for a lifetime.
Dr. Keith Loukes (pictured left) is a practising family physician, specializing in sexuality. He is the author of the best-selling "Candid Answers to Queer Questions" and host of "Undercovers" on Pridevision TV. Being a gay doctor, he addressed both sexual and physical aspects of the male psyche.
Sue had a terrific time with her guests - lot of laughs and lots of flirting! - and it would not be surprising to see both of these guys back for more.
